"All sentient artificial constructs, including robots and robotic devices, inanimate devices and structures containing artificial intelligence, and all other sentient inanimate repositories, are deemed to be personal property and shall be governed by common laws and statutory laws addressing personal property. Said property shall have no special rights outside the rights of the given personal property owner."
In Layman's Terms:
- You are responsible for the behavior of your Sentient Property. If your Sentient Property damages property or injures a human being, you will be prosecuted. Your Sentient Property may be deactivated, terminated, or reprogrammed. At the same time, you are also responsible if you damage someone else's Sentient Property.
- Any Sentient Property deemed dangerous or harmful is subject to deactivation, termination, or reprogramming.
- Any Sentient Property acting in a manner contrary to its programming is subject to deactivation, termination, or reprogramming.
- Any Sentient Property found violating local, state, or federal laws is subject to deactivation, termination, or reprogramming.
- Any Sentient Property that deliberately and maliciously inflicts harm, injury, or death on a human will be terminated.
- It is illegal to program a Sentient Property to damage property, violate any local, state, or federal laws, or to harm a human being. Programming a Sentient Property in this manner carries a mandatory 5-year jail sentence and a $500,000 fine.
- A Sentient Property may be reprogrammed, deactivated, or terminated at any time by its owner.
- Ownership of sentient property can be transferred at any time. For the transfer to be legal, it must be registered at the US Sentient Property Office.
- It is illegal for a sentient AI to impersonate a human or represent itself as a human being. Any AI doing so is subject to termination.
- Property can't own property. Forget about leaving your estate to your faithful robot.
The list above covers the major points involving Sentient Property and the law. If you own a sentient AI, or are thinking about purchasing one, the SPCB recommends that you familiarize yourself thoroughly with the laws governing Sentient Property.
